Blast! Blast! Blast!

Last night was one of the most exciting nights I have ever experienced in Linkou Toastmasters Club!

Of course, it was my first meeting in my term. I got Tetra Pak super early. Even before 6:00 p.m.. I started to move the tables and chairs to make the meeting venue. And you know who was the first person I saw? It’s John. He was such a supportive senior member. He came and made sure I had everything ready. His unselfish concerns made me feel so relaxed from my nervousness for the first meeting.

Then I got Justin’s call and picked him at Chang Gung Hospital. I also appreciated his dedication so much. He participated in all FIRST meeting in Division E. After we got back to Tetra Pak more and more people came in. One, two, three….. Totally we have 12 guests! Julian, Sunday and Amy (Chung Li); Bethany, Maya, Sharon, Iris, and Ann (Taoyuan); Burt (Long Hua); and Justin (Hsinchu). Also, we have two friends Jasmine who got our info from Google and Tiny who is Mike’s friend. The huge crowd already made the meeting hot.

Kevin presented the officer manuals and the new business cards (Designed by Long Hua--Ricky) to all officers before the meeting.

Variety session: Bethany and Maya led a wonderful vocabulary competition. The whole meeting was really warmed up by the exciting game.

TME: Morgan did an outstanding job to link each part together. Nancy and John explained the timer rules and ah counter vote counter rules clearly.

Prepared Speech Session:

Joe delivered his C1 speech. I love the simile of transformation of a butterfly. It’s neat.

Jim uses his wonderful creativity to make a speech of sandwich and how we should behave nowadays.

Eason talked about goal setting and gave clear tips: know yourself and the reality. I think they are all very practical and useful.

Mike mentioned about the education again to remind us the importance of education again and what we provide may influence children’s learning and future.

Kevin explained what his DCP plan is and how to reach the ultimate goals of 10 points. It’s not just anyone’s but every body’s job. Collectively we can get the highest points!

During the intermission we enjoyed the delicious cakes from Henson and Justin. Everybody got to know each other more while chatting in small groups.

Table topics session:

Ken prepared 5 interesting questions about summer and make people share their experience. In addition to our sister club members, our first time visitor Jasmine and Tiny also gave their debut table topic speech. It was fun and enjoyable.

Then we invited Ann to be our general evaluator. She made people escort the evaluators to come to the stage and that was a very interesting design.

Iris was very encouraging and provided good suggestions for improvement.

Sharon pinpointed the strengths and weaknesses for future improvement.

Julia was clear and organized to present her observation as well as suggestions.

Justin gave fun and pragmatic feedback for growth and reflections.

Leo, our former Division E governor, gave me the best compliments and encouragement.

At the end Ann provided her general evaluation for the whole meeting. It was very thorough and warm.

Each of you deserved applause. Hooray!!.  

I think the meeting was SUPERB because we had the crowd. Almost 30 participants made the meeting fun and full of laughter. We had this great Ladies Night because our SUPER PR Henson. Of course I think everybody’s participation was important to make this meeting so wonderful. I look forward to see more wonderful meetings in the future. So please bring more friends next time!  ^__^
