Our
club, NLFD
TMC,
was founded in October of 1996. The first demo meeting took
place on Oct.15, 1996. On October 29 of 1996 we began our
meeting number 1. From then, we started our journey to offer
a mutually supportive and positive learning environment for
our staff members to learn the skill of communication and
leadership. These are the skills everyone needs to succeed
at work, with family and in personal life. We believe in
serving the individuals and we believe that members can
benefit from our meeting programs.
Each meeting
program agenda is prepared by EVP (education Vice
president) of the club. By May 30, 2002 we have successfully
conducted 120 meetings. There are 11 CTMs produced in NLFD
TMC and each member has completed at least 10 speeches to
reach their individual goals. Every speech made was
carefully evaluated by another member in the club. New
members are encouraged to make speeches in public and build
their self-confidence. They are guided by mentors. As
they work toward the goal to obtain CTM, we also notice the
personal growth in them. When the skill of communication
improve so does the person become more aware of the
relationship with others. In this learning laboratory,
everyone can have the opportunity to learn, grow and
achieve.
The club
leadership had been very strong. All the officers in
2001-2002 term led by President Amy Chang, CTM worked very
hard. This year we will achieve at least 7 out of 10
goals to obtain the Distinguish club status. And our EVP
Nick Cheng, CTM has finished his 10 speeches this year and
reached his personal goal. We are all very appreciative to
his contribution to the club. As we are getting closer
to the end of this
term, we thank all the officers of this team for their
excellent service to all the members of NLFD TMC.
Since 1998, we had great presidents such as Steve Chiou, CTM,
John Chen, CTM and Kuo-Ching Wen, CTM. They are
outstanding leaders. They have contribute a great deal to
this club. And they have built great legacy for the next
generation to follow their steps. It is this spirit of the
Toastmasters that we must continue to strive for the better
for the years to come.
In
closing, I like to say that we at NLFD TMC are very proud of
our past accomplishments, however we will continue to grow,
learn, achieve and become more prosperous. We need more
members to join us and participate in this wonderful
learning family. And we invite you to come and have fun
with. Our club theme for the term 2002-2003 is FEEL..............Fun,
Education and Excellence in Learning!!
Please come and feel the prosperity with us!!
With best wishes
President of NLFD TMC, 2002-2003
