This meeting’s theme is “ghost”.  The reason to take “ghost” as the theme of regular meeting 349 is because the 7^th lunar month is near at hand.  In Chinese society, the whole 7^th lunar month is thought to be not auspicious in doing anything.  Such as getting married, moving houses, purchasing cars or inaugurating offices.  Therefore, from the first day till the last day of 7^th lunar month, there are a lot of taboos which people should observe.  People, in order to get rid of bad luck during the 7^th lunar month, usually go to churches or temples to ask God or Bodhisattva for good luck.  In Buddhist temples, they provide “amulet” or “charm” for people to wear so as to protect them from bad luck.

Here below, I want to introduce some expressions or phrases which have to do with ‘Ghost”. 

1.        I haven’t a ghost of a chance of passing the exam.

我絕不可能考上。

2.        It’s the woman who ghosted the man’s speech.

這個人的演講稿是那個女的代為捉刀的。

3.        In other words, the woman is a ghostwriter.

換句話說，這個女的是幫人捉刀（代筆）的人。
